Leah walked into her house after a long day at work and noticed thewt her owl, Jay, had a letter. She walked over and took the letter, noticing that it was from the minestry, she remembered how many times she had seen a letter that looked exactly the same, the letters important stamped across the front. She opened the letter, her hands shaking slightly as she did so.
Her eyes shanned the page and when she was done, her hand clamped to her face, nothing registering on her face but complete shock and sadness. The letter dropped to the floor as tears came to her eyes, one of her best friends, Johnathan had been killed that night by death eaters.

Rose walked up to the front porch of Leahs house and nudged the door open with her hip as her arms were occupied with a huge tub.
"Leah!!" Rose yelled. "I brought Ben and Jerry and the the best of Will Ferrel on Saturday Night Live for the Girls night!"
She walked into the familiar kitchen to put the ice cream in the freezer, and she saw Leah on the floor. Promptly dropping the tub on the table, she scurried over to the spot where Leah was sitting with a feeling of dread spreading through her body and crouched in front of her.
"What's wrong? What happened?"

Rose picked up the letter as the dread plopped around in her gut. She skimmed it, then did a double take and read it again more slowly.
"Oh my god..."
She crawled over next to Leah and wrapped her arms around her best friends crumpled frame.
"John..."

"They kill for no reason... They have no cause besides wreaking havoc and enjoying it." Rose said quietly as a tear slipped down her cheek. "John shouldn't have died. He was too young."

Leah, gently pulled out of Rose's embrace. "I know," she said, standing up and wiping her tears away. "I'm gonna... go do.................. something," she said to Rose, knowing that she would understand. Rise had seen her after she had found out about friends deaths before, and knew that she would understand that this was her way of mourning.

"Okay. You do your thing. I'll do mine." And with that, Rose wiped her eyes and retrieved her ice cream and grabbed a spoon out of the sink. Opening the container and digging the spoon into the depths, she sat back down on the floor, leaning against the refridgerator, eating the ice cream.
"My other best friends always pull me through the hard times." She said, refferring to Ben and Jerry. She had always reverted to humor during the worst times.

Leah left the house and walked through the neighborhood, just thinking about eerything. She remembered all of the time she had spent with John and all their lttle inside joakes as she went. About half an hour later, she arrived back in her house and saw that Rose was still in the kitchen. "Hey" she said, sliding down next to her.

Rose looked at Leah and grabbed another spoon and handed her the half-empty tub. This silent transaction was a sign of sympathy for Rose. She was giving her ice cream away.
"Here. I'm full. I'm sad. But I'm full."

"Nah." Rose shrugged. "I need pie. Maybe I'm not full..." Then suddenly. "You know, ice cream doesn't make the pain go away. It's kinda like a band-aid though. It helps. But you know what'll make the pain go away? Pie."

*Flashback* 16 year old Rose sat down at the Gralindoff table late because she had been held up in the library.
"Ooh. Just in time for dessert! John! Pass the pie!"
A sandy haired boy look over at the girl who had been his friend since 1st year.
"You want pie?"
"Yes, John. I want pie."
"Say the magic word!"
"Ugh. John, give me the pie." Rose said impatiently.
"Magic Word..." John shook his head, waving the blueberry pie dish back and forth.
"Abracadabra!"
"Not that magic word."
Rose took out her wand and attempted to summon the dish but unfortunately it ended up with Rose having a blue face with the pie crust peeling off her cheek.
"Please would have been the word you were looking for."
*End Flashback*
Rose sniffed. "He wouldn't give me the pie... I miss Johnny."

Leah, thought it odd about the comment, but knew Rose well enough not to bother to ask. "I miss him too, hun," she said, giving rose a hug as she took another bite of her pie. A tear streamed down her face but she wiped it away.
*flashback*
Fifth year Leah ran through the halls of the school, tears streaming down her face. She stumbled inti the gryffindor common room and ran right into someone. She looked up to see John there.
"Leah, are you alright?" he asked her, conserned.
"It's Brad, he cheeted on me," she said, tears streaming down her face.
John hugged her. "It's gonna be alright," he said, wiping her tears away. "He wasn't worth you anyway," he said with a smile, looking down at her.
*end flashback*
"Stupid Brad," she said quietly.
